Last Ditch Farm & Garden
After Hours Flowers
The Last Ditch Farm and Garden sits along the Acequia Trail in Los Ranchos, where a simple garden has grown into a small cut flower space. Our field-grown flowers bloom from May through November, changing with the season. An “after hours” project—seasonal bouquets, occasional workshops and event hosting, and whatever is in bloom.Follow along @lastditchgarden or reach out to see what’s blooming this week.

Last Ditch Farm and Garden started as a few garden beds mixed in with tomatoes, and slowly grew into a small cut flower space along the acequia trail—the “ditch” that inspired our name. This is very much an “after hours” endeavor, built around full-time jobs, kids’ sports, music lessons, and everything else that fills a busy life. What began as a small cutting garden turned into something more when friends and coworkers started asking when the flowers were coming! We’re not a large operation, learning and expanding a little more each year. You might find us at a pop-up, a small event, or hopefully one day a ditch-side stand, sharing whatever is in bloom. For now, we offer seasonal bouquets, occasional events, and updates along the way—text or email to see what’s available, and follow along on Instagram for where to find us.

Most flowers travel long distances before reaching a store. Some flower varieties cannot be shipped!
Local flowers last longer and urban microfarms provide benefits for everyone. Pollinators love the gardens and our native border plants.Buying local means:
~Better vase life
~Seasonal, unique varieties that cannot be imported
~Supports small, sustainable growing and local business
~Supports our local pollinators and environment
~Fun and local events and pop-ups

Expect cut flowers to last 5-7 days in a vase. Some are more fleeting by nature (dahlias, cosmos), so just enjoy them while you can! Others can last forever dried (gomphrena, strawflower).
~Trim all the foliage below the water line
~Use the cut flower food provided
~Change water every 1-2 days
~Pull out any spent flowers
~DO NOT place cut flowers near ripening fruit and veggies on your counter. Flowers can be ethylene sensitive.
~Buy more flowers next week!
